Tour Catania

With this half-day tour, Dream Island will let you discover the beautiful city of Catania in all its beauties! An incredible journey to discover the treasures of Catania. It starts from Piazza Duomo with the elephant fountain “u Liotru” in the center, by Vaccarini (1735-36). The pieces that make up the fountain have different origins and ages: the elephant, symbol of the city, is by an unknown author, someone attributes it to the mythical Daedalus; the obelisk is Egyptian and comes from the temple of Isis in Siene. It is formed by a granite column surmounted by an extremely important obelisk. The splendid architectural scenery of the eighteenth-century square – including all the surrounding buildings and the famous fish market of Catania – are evidence of local art and history. The tomb of Vincenzo Bellini, a composer from Catania, is kept in the cathedral. Continue to the Ursino Castle, a building that dates back to the period of Frederick II. We will then reach the Via dei Crociferi to admire the Catanese Baroque. Continue on the Quattro Canti of Catania and Villa Bellini. Finally, free time for shopping on the most important street of Catania, the Via Etnea.
