Visiting Taormina
  • Porta Catania and Corso Umberto
    The tour of Taormina’s historic center begins at Porta Catania with a guided tour of about 2 hours during which you will be accompanied by a licensed tour guide. After an introduction about the city and Taormina’s history, the guided tour will continue inside Corso Umberto I, Taormina’s most important street, full of stores and restaurants of all kinds but also historic buildings, churches and cultural points of interest.

  • Cathedral Square
    Our first stop takes us to Piazza Duomo, in the center of which stands a magnificent fountain surrounded by four side fountains. Imposing its presence on the square is the Cathedral of St. Nicholas of Bari, also called the “fortress cathedral”. The Town Hall also overlooks the square.

  • Piazza IX Aprile, Belvedere di Taormina
    After passing under the Clock Tower we will reach Piazza IX Aprile, with its characteristic checkerboard pavement and spectacular panoramic views of the eastern coast of Sicily and the magnificent volcano Etna.

  • St. Catherine Square and Odeon
    Continuing along Corso Umberto, we will arrive at Piazza Santa Caterina where there is the church of the same name and the striking Palazzo Corvaja, a historic building of remarkable beauty and importance, now home to the “Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions” and the tourist information center. A short distance from the square we will visit the ancient Odeon of Taormina, a small theater intended for musical and literary performances.

    The guided tour concludes with a visit to Taormina’s famous Greek theater (the ticket is included in the price). The Theater is one of the most famous monuments in Sicily, it was built in a strategic point with a breathtaking view from which you can admire the majestic volcano Etna and the Ionian Sea.

  • Free walk
    After the guided tour, you will have an hour of free time to independently explore the historic center of Taormina. You can stroll through the picturesque narrow streets, take pictures, buy souvenirs and taste delicious Sicilian products. Just a 5-minute walk from Corso Umberto is Taormina’s lush Villa Comunale, also called Trevelyan Park, with its monuments of great historical importance, an ideal place to relax surrounded by greenery.

    After a free tour of Taormina, we will accompany you to the picturesque town of Castelmola. From the charming Piazza Sant’Antonio you can look out over the Belvedere for another fantastic view of the surrounding area: the Ionian Sea, Calabria, Taormina, the enchanting Isola Bella and more. During the visit you can also explore fascinating churches such as that of St. George, the patron saint of Castelmola, and the Cathedral of St. Nicholas of Bari. Finally, a visit to the “scandalous” and iconic Bar Turrisi, famous and unique in the world, will be a must. This will be the last stop on our tour, an experience rich in ancient history, Sicilian authenticity, culture and moments of relaxation.
