Godfather Tour

Are you a fan of the famous “The Godfather” trilogy? The Godfather Tour will take you to the same locations chosen by director Francis Ford Coppola to shoot the movie “The Godfather”.
An unforgettable experience for all fans, a journey between cinema and reality, discovering the Sicily of the Godfather!

"The Godfather" movie tour

On the half-day Godfather tour, Dream Island will take you on a journey into the past as you discover ancient, sun-drenched Sicilian villages, places where time has stood still. These are, of course, the same locations chosen by Francis Ford Coppola to set the movie “The Godfather”: the trilogy of movies was loosely based on the novel of the same name by writer Mario Puzo.

Mario Puzo himself and Francis Coppola wrote the screenplay largely set in Sicily, in the places that immediately seduced Francis Coppola, destinations that have always fascinated tourists visiting Sicily. A land where everything is a blaze of lights, colours, flavours, traditions, legends, written rules and handed down rules, such as those of the Mafia.

Itinerary Godfather tour

Castello degli Schiavi - Villa Corleone
  • Our tour will begin with a visit to the Castello degli Schiavi, socalled “Villa Corleone,” near Fiumefreddo di Sicilia where you can relive the famous scenes from the film. It was here that Coppola filmed scenes of Part I, which ended with the explosion of the car driven by Apollonia, and the scenes of the last shots of Part III where the Castello degli Schiavi is the villa of Don Tommasino, in which Michael Corleone holds a meeting before dying alone.

  • This tour of about 1 1/2 hours begins with a showing of footage from “The Godfather” related to “Villa Corleone”; then you will see original and unique documents from the film’s production and photographs taken of the famous actors during filming. By retracing all the places made famous by the film you will have the chance to become a protagonist, being immortalized with photos and videos in those same places, recreating the famous scenes from “The Godfather”.

  • During the visit you will also have a chance to meet Mr. Platania, owner of the Castello degli Schiavi. He was present firsthand during the filming, and his exclusive stories and friendliness will make this visit even more valuable.
Savoca: Bar Vitelli and Church of Saint Nicholas
  • Next, after a short trip along eastern Sicily, we will arrive in Savoca, one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy”, visiting Bar Vitelli where Don Micheal Corleone asked for Apollonia’s hand in marriage.

  • After visiting the center of the town, another key stop on our tour will be a visit to the Church of San Nicolò, where the wedding scene between Michael Corleone and Apollonia in the first “The Godfather” movie was set. These places fascinated Coppola and were immediately chosen to capture the scenes of his masterpiece.
