Godfather Tour

Want to take a dip into the past? Do you want to discover ancient and sunny Sicilian villages where time has stood still? With the Godfather tour Dream Island will take you to the same places chosen by Francis Ford Coppola to film the movie “The Godfather”.

Tour of "The Godfather" movie

With our half-day Godfather Tour, Dream Island will take you on a journey into the past, discovering ancient and sunny Sicilian villages, places where time has stood still. These are, of course, the same locations chosen by Francis Ford Coppola to set the film “The Godfather”: the trilogy of films was freely inspired by the novel of the same name by writer Mario Puzo.

Mario Puzo himself and Francis Coppola wrote the screenplay largely set in Sicily, in the places that immediately seduced Francis Coppola, destinations that have always fascinated tourists when they come to Sicily. A land where everything is a riot of lights, colours, flavours, traditions, legends, written rules and rules handed down, such as those of the Mafia.

Castello degli Schiavi, Villa Corleone

The tour includes a visit to the Castello degli Schiavi (Castle of the Slaves), nicknamed “Villa Corleone”, near Fiumefreddo di Sicilia where you can relive the famous scenes from the film. It was here that scenes from Part I, which ended with the explosion of the car driven by Apollonia, were filmed, as well as scenes from the last shots of Part III where the Castello degli Schiavi is the villa of Don Tommasino, in which Michael holds a meeting before dying alone.

This tour, which lasts approximately one and a half hours, begins with a showing of “The Godfather” footage relating to “Villa Corleone”; you will then see original documents from the film’s production and photographs taken of the famous actors during filming. You will then visit the Castello degli Schiavi, “Villa Corleone”, retracing all the places made famous by the film, with the possibility of becoming the protagonist by being immortalised with photos and videos in those same places, recreating the famous scenes from “The Godfather”.

Savoca and Bar Vitelli

Next, we will take you to Savoca, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, visiting the Bar Vitelli where Don Micheal Corleone asked for Apollonia’s hand.

St. Nicholas Church

To conclude our tour, we enter the church of San Nicolò, where the wedding scene between Michael Corleone and Apollonia in the first “The Godfather” film was set. These places fascinated Coppola and were immediately chosen to immortalise the scenes of his masterpiece.

Godfather tour, a tour inside the hidden soul of Sicily

Of course, you will not only see scenes from the movie The Godfather, it will be a tour inside the hidden soul of Sicily. As an old Sicilian adage goes: “The best things are kept unsaid”.
