01Programme

Lava front of the 2002 eruption

We set off aboard a comfortable SUV or minivan (up to 8 passengers), immersing ourselves in Etna's wild nature. The first stop, off-road through the Ragabo Pine Forest, brings you face to face with the lava front of 27 October 2002, the largest eruption of recent times: the flow that destroyed Piano Provenzana and part of the pine forest.

Sartorius Craters · UNESCO heritage

We walk among white birches and black sand to the Sartorius Craters, a spectacular row of dormant side craters on Etna's north-east flank, a UNESCO heritage site, with views opening all the way to the sea.

Exploration of the Robbers' Cave

Equipped with helmets and torches, we enter the Robbers' Cave, a lava-flow tunnel. Accompanied by expert guides who share stories and volcanic anecdotes, you'll enjoy a safe, fun adventure suitable for both adults and children.

02Questions & answers

How long is the tour?

It's a half-day tour: departure at 09:00 and return around 14:00. Perfect if you're short on time but don't want to miss Etna.

Is it suitable for children and families?

Yes, it's an easy trek (3 km, minimal elevation gain) suitable for adults and children. Free under 3 and reduced rate for ages 3-10.

Is lunch included?

No, lunch is not included (it's a half-day morning tour). We recommend bringing a snack. Water is included.

What should I bring/wear?

Comfortable closed shoes (hiking-boot rental at € 5.00/pair), layered clothing and a hoodie/jacket: it's chilly at altitude even in summer. Helmet and torch for the cave are provided.

Can I cancel for free?

Yes: cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the tour starts (48 hours for private tours). Book with peace of mind.

The views were amazing, we ate good pasta and saw a lot of beautiful places. Massimo really knows a lot of things about everything we asked not only about mount Etna but also a lot of different things like living in Sicilia, the cities, the history. We were really excited about the trip and we are not disappointed at all so I highly recommend booking the tour with Max. We will definitely come back soon here, so we can reach the top of mount Etna. This trip was the best foretaste for that so it's really worth it. Thank you Max!
