With this half-day Godfather Tour, Dream Island will take you back to the past, discovering ancient and sunny Sicilian villages, places where time has stopped. Of course, the same places chosen by Francis Ford Coppola to set the film “the Godfather“: the trilogy of films was freely inspired by the novel of the same name by the writer Mario Puzo. Mario Puzo and Francis Coppola himself wrote the screenplay mostly set in Sicily , in the places that immediately seduced Francis Coppola, destinations that have always fascinated tourists when they come to Sicily. A land where everything is a riot of light, colors, flavors, traditions, legends, written rules and rules handed down, such as those mafia.
The Godfather tour includes a visit to the Castle of the Slaves
nicknamed “Villa Corleone” near Fiumefreddo di Sicilia where you can relive the scenes of the film. It was here that the scenes of part I were shot, which ended with the explosion of the car driven by Apollonia and the scenes of the last shots of part III where the Castello degli Schiavi is Don Tommasino’s villa, in which Michael holds a meeting before dying alone. Later we will arrive in Savoca, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, (right in the Vitelli Bar where Don Micheal Corleone asked for Apollonia’s hand). To conclude our tour we enter the church of San Nicolò, where the wedding scene was set. These places in fact immediately appeared suitable to immortalize Coppola’s masterpiece, considered by many to be a must. Obviously you will not only see the scenes of the film The Godfather, it will be a Tour inside the hidden soul of Sicily. As the old Sicilian adage goes, “The best things are the unspoken ones”.
