From Etna to Siracusa

This itinerary is designed for small and medium groups, from 7 to 19 people, and will take you to discover eastern Sicily. Among the essential cities there are: Syracuse, Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Etna and Catania. Without forgetting to make a stop on Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, and in Taormina.

Arrival with own means at the hotel in the charming city of Catania (on request possibility of private transfer). In the late afternoon meeting with our guide, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Syracuse, Unesco Heritage, to visit the largest and most powerful Greek colony in Sicily: we will visit Ortigia, where you will remain fascinating from Piazza Duomo and its Cathedral whose façade in perfect Sicilian Baroque style was in the past a sacred temple in Doric style. Afterwards, continuing along the delightful alleyways of the center, you will admire the famous Arethusa fountain in front of the sea.

Free lunch. Our day will continue in the direction of Noto, the capital of Sicilian baroque called “stone garden”, full of beautiful buildings and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will walk through the streets of the center to admire the skill and genius of local craftsmen. Visit of Palazzo Nicolaci Villadorata, wonderful noble residence in a purely Baroque style. Return to Catania, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, departure to the discovery of Etna, Arriving in Piano Provenzana and from there we will reach the Monti Sartorius with a simple but fascinating trek that will make you walk among ancient lava flows. Following a visit to a winery you will taste good local wine and taste typical products.

After the tasting and the light lunch we continue towards Taormina, famous for its Greek-Roman theater, its palaces and its magical position that will allow you to enjoy a breathtaking view. You will have free time to walk along the characteristic streets of the center.

Return to the hotel in Catania. Dinner and overnight.

The day will begin with a visit to the historic center of Catania and its baroque declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. We will cross the historic “pescheria” (ancient fish market) to reach the spectacular Piazza del Duomo with the splendid Cathedral and the lava stone elephant (symbol of the city) and continue to Piazza Università. Next we will visit the splendid and baroque Via dei Crociferi, where the famous Monastery of St. Benedict is located, made known by Verga’s novel “Storia di una Capinera” and Unesco Heritage, we will continue towards the Benedictine Monastery, now a university . After the break for lunch with the walk will continue along the precious streets of the center.

Our tour of Sicily draws to a close. After breakfast at the hotel our services are terminated.
