Tour description

With this full-day excursion, Dream Island will let you discover two of the most beautiful landscapes of Sicily: Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe and the Alcantara Gorges. Our excursion will start in SUV or minivan (up to 8 people) with an off-road up to the 2002 lava front, through the Pineta Ragabo. Then we will proceed to the starting point of the trek and our excursion will continue on foot at an altitude of 1650 meters and we will reach an altitude of 1700 meters. We will walk for two hours along the paths of the lateral craters called Craters Sartorius on the north-east slope of Etna. Once at the top we will reach some panoramic points from which we can admire the Mediterranean Sea and the Nebrodi and Peloritani mountain ranges. Before descending towards the Alcantara valley we will visit a lava cave. Lunch break in a mountain chalet and, after lunch, crossing Castiglione di Sicilia, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, we will reach the Alcantara Gorges.
